UPDATE: The vote determined Cheshire Parc Way and the Crossing will be kept as Private roads.  The Board will now collect bids for the roadwork needed on the Parc Way and Crossing.

UPDATE: The Board negotiated what we believe to be a very fair plan with the County, for both the work that needs to be done now and for the future maintenance of Cheshire Parc Way, the Crossing, and the Roundabout.  We will be holding a vote soon to determine if these roads will be Dedicated to the County or kept as Private.  UPDATED 12/28/2022

UPDATE: The County has delayed placing our road repairs on their schedule until after Valor completes Cheshire Cove Place.

UPDATE: Townley Court, Townley Way, and the county's portion of Cheshire Crossing are now complete.  UPDATED 4/19/2021

As of February 11, 2021 we now have confirmation that the Cheshire Parc streets have officially been turned over to the County for County-funded maintenance. The January 21st County Commission meeting minutes show that the county did in fact vote to accept our roads despite their failure status.  Accepted roads include these twelve:

Cathwick Circle • Cathwick Court • Cathwick Drive • Cathwick Trace • Cathwick Way • Cheshire Cove Circle • Cheshire Cove Drive • Cheshire Cove Place* • Cheshire Cove Trail • Cheshire Crossing (one portion only)** • Townley Court • Townley Way

This comes as a huge financial relief to Cheshire Parc HOA members. The bond money for these roads which was initiated in the 2000s by the original developer who foreclosed was not enough to cover the top coating layer, much less the significant structural fixes required. The county has accepted maintenance responsibility at the expense of tax payer funds due to our special situation and the recent change in county road regulations.

In meeting with a top official for Jefferson County roadway systems, the Transition Board was informed that our roads were considered to be in complete failure status, meaning the entire pavement will need to be removed, reground, mixed with new asphalt, and repaved before applying the top layer of the road. The county official said she anticipates that sometime during this calendar year the road demolition and reconstruction should commence although she could not confirm a specific schedule at this time.

Additionally, a small section of Cheshire Crossing, specifically the section of road between the two Townley streets, is now accepted as county maintained and removed from our private responsibility, which is contrary to original development plans and understood to be a rare incident but is financially beneficial to the community.

The county should be adding street signs, speed limit signs, and stop signs throughout the neighborhood as they deem appropriate. The additional stop signs should act as speed deterrents, and police presence for traffic violations should be more enforceable on county roads than what was formerly private streets.

This is truly a celebration moment for the Cheshire Parc community. As the Board gets more specific updates, the HOA website should reflect that knowledge. Be sure to park *completely* inside your driveways or garages and not in the street.

Cheshire Cove Place is only partially paved, but that street seems to be deemed as accepted.  Valor should be scheduled to pave the rest of that street as our final road, once home construction is complete. Cheshire Parc Way and most of Cheshire Crossing are not included in the county-maintained road schedule at this time.
